The Usual First Post-An Introduction

July 30th, 2011 at 04:06 pm

Writing an introduction post is weird. How the heck do I start this? I wrote a brief summary of what my financial goals are on the sidebar. But I guess I can go into a little more detail. My name is Martina. I'm 23 years old and I live in central Florida. I'm currently living with my parents while I try to get a good job and save up as much I can with the intentions of moving out into my own place within the next year or so.

I'm obsessive when it comes to many things. About a year ago, when I decided that I needed to come up with a plan as far as what I wanted to do with my life, I committed to it completely. I can honestly say that every single day, I have worked towards my goal. Either I'll send in job applications, research different things, come up with ways to cut costs, etc.

I think a part of me realized a year ago that I hadn't accomplished much. And that made me feel like I wasted a good part of my life. I didn't finish college. I went for 2 semesters, took a break, and never went back. Big mistake. There's only so much you can do without a college degree. Because of that, I know I won't be making anymore than a few dollars over minimum wage. The job I'm going for pays $25k a year. Not much but using a mock budget, it's enough to save for retirement, put a good portion into savings, and still have some fun money leftover.

I'm definitely excited about working on this blog. I think it'll be neat to look back a year or two from now and see how far I've come. I'm hoping other people can get something out of this as much as I will. Thanks for reading!
